José ValentÃn González

José ValentÃn specializes in constitutional, administrative, criminal, pharmaceutical, IP and white-collar crime law, as well as in regulatory and telecom matters.
Before becoming a partner at D’Empaire in 2001, he worked at the Political Administrative Chamber of Venezuelan Supreme Court of Justice as an assistant judge (1995-1999).
José ValentÃn received a J.D. from Universidad Catolica Andres Bello in 1990, a master’s degree in administrative law in 1994 and a master’s degree in criminal law from Universidad Catolica Andres Bello. He teaches administrative law at Universidad Catolica Andres Bello.
His noteworthy experiences include:
- Representing Pfizer in a Lipitor® patent litigation at the Andean Supreme Tribunal and before Venezuelan governmental authorities
- Representing Corporación Digitel, a subsidiary of Telecom Italia Mobile in a trademark dispute against Movistar (Telefónica)
- Representing Radio Caracas Televisión (RCTV) in several administrative proceedings concerning the renewal of its broadcasting license
José is currently ranked as “Band 1†by Chambers & Partners (2019 Venezuela Public Law and White Collar Crime Rankings) and as a “Leading Lawyer†by The Legal 500 (2018 Venezuela Public Law Rankings).
He is fluent in Spanish and English.
